4 Wire Computer Fan Diagram

4 wire computer fan diagram. This is the first one of several little projects that i intend to upload they explain the working of usual or undocumented parts that i experimented with. Simply a 3 wire fan reports its speed and a 4 wire fan lets regulate its speed by an external signal usually coming from the motherboard. Of course all you need is the red and black wire to run your computer fan but if you didn t know what the extra wires are for this video may help you out. The yellow wire pulses an output voltage twice per fan revolution. I have an enermax. So the pwm pulses are driving the transistor. It reveals the elements of the circuit as simplified shapes and the power and signal connections between the tools.
